A listing shows two hundred reviews, forty of them posted on the same Tuesday, half of them one word long. This reads the reviews already rendered on a MercadoLibre or Mercado Livre product page and turns those patterns into a 0–100 figure with the reasons listed under it.

Not sure whether a product's reviews can be trusted?

MercadoTrust reads the reviews already shown on a MercadoLibre / Mercado Livre product page and turns trust signals into a 0–100 score:

⚠️ These are heuristic reference signals — not a verdict that any review or seller is fake.

Privacy: nothing is sent to any server. It works only on the page you're viewing and collects no personal data.

What it does

  • Date bursts

many reviews on the same day (a review-farming sign)

  • Short / duplicate text

    one-word or copy-pasted reviews

  • Rating skew

an unnatural pile-up of 5-star ratings

  • Gifted / review-for-incentive mentions

when they appear in the text

When you'd reach for it

  • Sizing up a seller you have never bought from

Scroll to the reviews on a product page and a panel appears just above them with a score, a verdict band, and how many reviews on the page went into it. Above 75 reads as consistent, the middle band asks for some caution, and low scores mean several signals fired at once. It is a starting point for a closer look, not a ruling on the seller.

  • Understanding why a score came out low

Under the number is a list of the signals that actually fired, each with a percentage: reviews concentrated on a few dates, short or duplicated text, mentions of a product received or gifted in exchange for a review, coupon or points offers, and an unnatural share of five-star ratings. Nothing is deducted for a signal that did not appear.

  • Judging a page that only loaded a handful of reviews

The panel only analyses the reviews the page has drawn so far, and it stays quiet below three. The button in its header clicks the site's own show-more control and re-runs the analysis about a second later, so you can widen the sample before reading anything into the number.

Questions people ask

How can I check whether mercadolibre reviews are trustworthy?

Open the product page and read the panel above the review section. It scores the reviews on the page from 0 to 100 by looking for patterns that tend to accompany farmed reviews — bursts of same-day posting, text that repeats or is under about ten characters, disclosure phrases, and rating skew. These are heuristics for orientation, not proof that any review or seller is fake.

Which sites and pages does it run on?

The seven MercadoLibre and Mercado Livre country domains listed in the manifest: Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Colombia, Chile, Peru and Uruguay. It activates on product pages that contain a review section and needs at least three readable reviews before it draws anything. On any other site the extension does nothing at all.

What permissions does it declare, and what does it store?

It declares storage plus host access to those seven shopping domains, and nothing else. Storage keeps a single entry, the most recent analysis, so the toolbar popup can show the last score you saw. The reviews it scores are the ones the page has already rendered.

Does a lack of review photos lower the score?

No. "Few photos" is displayed as a low-severity note when under 10% of the reviews on the page include an image, but it carries no weight in the calculation. Only gifted or incentive mentions, date concentration, short and duplicated text, and rating skew subtract points from 100.

What language is the panel in?

Portuguese on mercadolivre.com.br and Spanish on the six Spanish-language domains, picked automatically from the domain you are on. There is no other interface language, so on a Korean or English browser you still get the local wording — though the score, the percentages and the color of each signal read the same in any language.
